Faith Promise Giving

What is a Faith Promise Commitment Offering?

A Commitment Offered to God: This is a personal commitment made to the Lord to give a specific amount of money for th express purpose of supporting global evangelism. It is an expression of obedience "to make disciples of all nations..." (Matthew 28:19. It is made only after seeking the Lord's will for how much He wants you to give. Note that this is a promise, not a pledge. A pledge is legally collectable, a promise is not. You will not be reminded of what you promised.

A Decision Made in Faith: Hebrews 11:6 tells us that God is pleased when we exercise our faith, for "...without faith it is impossible to please God...." The Faith Promise Commitment combines our known sources of income with unknown sources of income. Knowing you have sought the Holy Spirit's leading, you can be confident He will keep His promise to you in providing the resources to honor your commitment. Faith: Trusting God to enable me to give more than I thought I could, while still meeting all my needs. Promise: Since God promises to meet all my needs, He can be trusted to fulfill my commitment.

An Amount Determined in Advance: The Faith Promise Commitment is made in advance, at the time the annual missions budget is established. The missions budget is based on the total amount in Faith Promise Commitments submitted. You determine your participation amount before knowing exactly how the funds will be provided over the coming year.

Where Do the Funds Come From?

Making a Faith Promise Commitment changes your perspective on what you have, causing you to recognize that everything you have comes from the Lord. Therefore, your perspective on spending, saving, and giving changes. We make choices every day about how or where we spend or save our money in order to get what we are seeking. A Faith Promise Commitment reminds us on a regular basis to make choices that will enable giving to the Lords' work around the world.
After making conscientious choices of how you spend or save, look for unusual ways the Lord will provide for honoring your Faith Promise Commitment. Unexpected income can come from things like:

  • a tax refund, perhaps even greater than you expected
  • pay raise or bonus
  • rebate from purchases
  • freelance or other moonlighting jobs
  • a repair costing less that quoted so you can give the difference

Learn to recognize these and many other ways the Lord provides funds to advance His Kingdom around the world.

Why Should I make a Faith Promise Commitment?

  • To be personally involved in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20)
  • The act of worshipping God through a Faith Promise Commitment Offering not only supplies the needs of God's people, but also result in many expressions of thanks to God (2 Corinthians 9:12)
  • To fulfill Christ's words of being a "witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8)
  • Because God "...wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth" (1 Timothy 2:4), and that He is "...not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9)
